Where Are We Now?

The current situation for People in the US

The United States political machine has been carefully engineered into a two-party system in which both sides are funded and serve the interests of wealthy corporations. The two parties appear to oppose each other like rival boxers in a ring, but both are backed by the same promoters behind the scenes. Both major parties currently operate within a landscape increasingly shaped by a Techno-Oligarchy, a consolidation of power among wealthy corporate and technology elites. This informal third force exerts influence through control of digital infrastructure, data, and public discourse, steering policy and public opinion without electoral accountability.

At the same time, government policy has shifted to compensate for and obscure the inevitable consequences of late-stage capitalism, in which public institutions are increasingly subordinated to serve private interests seeking profit, bailouts, and expanded influence. This collusion between corporate powers and the wealthy elite allows them to manipulate policy in ways that serve their interests rather than the public good.

This convergence of economic and political power has also opened the door to the rise of authoritarian and exclusionary ideologies, with elements of Christian nationalism, xenophobia, and discriminatory policies advancing under the guise of traditional governance. This is not a battle between Left and Right, but a struggle in which the wealthy consolidate power in order to subjugate, divide, and suppress the public. The result is a system that increasingly undermines and violates civil liberties, social equity, and democratic norms regardless of party affiliation.

Through the systematic dismantling of key government oversight and public protection agencies—such as FEMA, OSHA, HHS, the FDA, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the administration is crippling the social infrastructure designed to ensure equity, safety, and accountability. This accelerated effort to weaken institutions that serve the public interest directly threatens the foundations of a just and inclusive society. It leaves marginalized and underrepresented communities increasingly vulnerable, stripping away critical safeguards meant to protect them from exploitation, neglect, and systemic harm.

Update

It is clear now that the dismantling of government services, and targeting of marginalized groups has escalated beyond the exploritory phase of finding just jow far the administration can go with the Project 2025 agenda. When President Trump openly defied the US Supreme court routing to bring Kilmar Abreggo Garcia back to the US it marked a turning point in our democracy. The Executive branch tested the water and found out it can ignore laws and the Judical branch authority without consequence. The scope and scale of actions after this are following a clear pattern - eliminate people and groups that cut into profits. That means anyone that cannot work, or is deemed a burden to support or protect. The sick, the elderly, people who live in geographic regions that are prone to emergencies are all being cut loose and left without protection. The goal is to only keep around people that can serve the economic system. As RFK Jr. wrongfully and insidiously attacked people with autism, 'they will never pay taxes'.

Complacency and support for this is constantly bolstered by creating an enemy for people to hate. Attacks on the LGBTQ+ community, immigrants, dehumanization of the people of Palestine, all give people things to be mad about and people to hurt.

Be kind to your neighbors- it's class warfare and we have to stand together, join with those we don't agree with, and hold the line against this fascism. When of if we make it through- we can always go back to arguing over sports teams, or favorite musicians- but we must fight together now to secure that future.

Protest with your voice, you wallet, your spirit.
